Apartment hunting can be simple and easy. Find your home using the only real estate platform that guides you to make smarter decisions. We partnered with BabaFi to redesign their web app to convert more leads.

BabaFi, a real estate platform was originally matching people with apartments manually. They wanted to create an automated way for people to easily filter through thousands of listings and find their dream apartment.

Goal: Increase conversion of leads to in-person tours

Starting with 3 weeks of Product Strategy we finalized a roadmap to launch a new, fully custom smart questionnaire in 3 versions. Our team completed Version 1 in 3 months by working down the prioritized backlog to design, build, and publish the initial questionnaire.

1. A single, custom piece of integrated software replaced their Frankenstein tech stack.

2. 3.7x increase in lead conversion.

"Our platform is unique in the real estate tech world so understanding is crucial to building it well and [OneSeven] did just that."

Product Strategy

During the first week, OneSeven met with the BabaFi CEO and CTO for a series of discovery workshops to discuss the problem being solved, users personas, project goals and requirements, plus the budget and ideal timeline. The second week, our design and development teams conducted technical audits. Designers studied the existing site, questionnaire, and competitors & inspirations to understand the brand style and various user flows. Developers went through each piece of the tech stack to identify system dependencies, requirements, and opportunities with potential API integrations. In the third and final week, OneSeven made a prioritized feature backlog and created a fully actionable roadmap to achieve the project goals across 3 major versions. After presenting the full roadmap to the BabaFi team, an SOW was created to complete Version 1 in 3 months.

Outcomes

  1. Fully actionable roadmap to achieve the project goals across 3 major versions.

  2. An SOW and prioritized backlog to complete Version 1 in 3 months.

  3. Strategy reports that capture everything from the discovery workshops plus our teams research and findings.

Web App Development

There were several requirements and integrations for the BabaFi Web Application. One was for the web app to be SEO friendly and the others were for it to integrate with Google Calendar for scheduling, Close for their CRM & Segment for analytics. Based on research done in the Product Strategy phase, it was already proven that Next.js would be the language of choice because it's very SEO friendly, and the Calendso API was needed to achieve the desired features. Already knowing what combination of languages and APIs needed to be used allowed the developers to begin the backend systems configuration while the design team solidified the brand style and optimized the user flows. Once that was set up, the design and development teams worked closely together to transform each finished wireflow into functioning pieces of the new app. Sprint by sprint the teams fully completed each wireflow of version 1.

All technologies used: Next.JS, GraphQL, Chainstarters, AWS, Close CRM, Segment, Survey.js, Google Pixel, Slack

Outcomes

  1. The project was completed and published on-time and on-budget

  2. Version 1 laid a solid foundation for BabaFi to continue building onto with future versions.
